Selection and Practical Application of Common Globe Valves apollo ball valves

The globe valve has a valve stem axis perpendicular to the valve seat sealing surface. The valve stem has a relatively short opening or closing stroke and has a very reliable cut-off action, making it very suitable for cutting, regulating, and throttling the medium.

Once the globe valve is in the open position, its valve seat and valve disc sealing surfaces no longer contact each other, and it has a very reliable cut-off action, making it very suitable for cutting, regulating, and throttling the medium.

Once the globe valve is in the open state, there is no longer any contact between its valve seat and valve disc sealing surfaces. Therefore, its sealing surfaces have less mechanical wear. Since most of the globe valve's valve seats and valve discs are relatively easy to repair, there is no need to remove the entire valve from the pipeline when replacing the sealing elements, which is very suitable for situations where the valve and pipeline are welded together. The flow direction of the medium changes when passing through this type of valve, so the flow resistance of the globe valve is higher than other valves.

As one of the most important globe valves, the globe valve plays a vital role in the aerospace field

As an important component of aerospace equipment, the globe valve realizes the functions of medium transport, shut-off, and regulation. Its sealing performance directly affects the safe and reliable operation of aerospace equipment. Studying the influencing factors and laws of the sealing characteristics of typical globe valves has guiding significance for the structural design of valve sealing pairs, thereby improving the sealing performance and reliability of valves.

The following are several commonly used types of globe valves

Angle globe valve

In an angle globe valve, the fluid only needs to change direction once, resulting in a smaller pressure drop through this valve compared to conventional globe valves.

Straight-flow globe valve

In a straight-flow or Y-shaped globe valve, the flow path of the valve body is at an angle to the main flow path, reducing the degree of flow disruption and corresponding pressure loss through the valve.

Piston globe valve

This form of globe valve is a variation of the conventional globe valve. In this valve, the valve disc and valve seat are usually designed based on the piston principle. The valve disc is machined into a piston shape and connected to the valve stem, and the sealing is achieved by two elastic sealing rings fitted on the piston. The two elastic sealing rings are separated by a sleeve and pressed firmly by the load applied to the valve cover by the valve cover nut. The elastic sealing rings can be replaced and can be made of various materials. This valve is mainly used for "open" or "close," but with a specially designed piston or special sleeve, it can also be used to regulate flow.
